The pointy end of the Australian Open is upon us and punters following the touted hopes have largely prevailed, with particularly high seeds remaining and one exception, in Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. He has given his early-tournament backers a magnificent ride, trading as high as $700 in early markets. He has some task in front of him though, having initially to defeat favoured countryman Rafael Nadal in tonight's semi final.
The women's final may not be the 'Glam Slam' of 2008, but with both ladies storming into the final on the back of straight sets semi final victories, it promises to be a spectacle to behold...
